Are You There?
The internet is so much infiltrated into our lives that most folks seem to spend more time relating to “virtual” personalities than they do to flesh and blood personalities.
I signed up for a newsletter today about pharmacology. They would not let me sign up for it until I checked a box that said “I am not a robot.” A virtual person may not spontaneously say everything that is on his/her mind. Besides, when you first meet a flesh and blood person, what they look like plays a role in how you react. That is no importance on the internet; especially, on facebook. You get a celebrity photo or a cartoon or animal. Or a gray background with a white silhouette. I think those people are trying to say “I’m not really here.”
