Misleading Headline about Postmenopausal Weight Gain Lets Me Plug My Book
It is not just that Fox missed “fair and balanced” with a recent headline about why women gain weight after menopause. This is out and out false advertising.
I am glad that someone is figuring out genetic predisposition to visceral fat in mice. I actually own a significantly overweight Minnie Mouse stuffed toy. She needs to know about this. Oversimplifications of science in order to get folks to listen to or read news stories is worrisome, tedious, and all sorts of things.
This is important, but let’s stick to what’s real. Water is good and spice is nice, but I do not suggest anyone actually rely on this kind of advice to avoid getting obese when menopause hits. This one about causes and solutions seemed a little closer to the truth – until I realized they were selling a diet program.
The blog you are now reading is being written by a woman who lost nearly 200 pounds – post-menopause. My book is plenty cheaper, and it tells it like it is. Some people are addicted to meal plans and recipes. These will end up being onerous, unless you go toward the obsessive-compulsive. And even then I can promise such plans will bring neither happiness nor satisfaction. Look at the photos of your grandparents. My bet is they were not obese. The problem, be it peri or post-menopausal, has something to do with the food supply of America. Science is not just spending grant money. I have personally observed people who come to America become obese — on our over-processed food.
It may sound simple, but to know who you are and what your body processes actually works.
